Google Earth! Take a look!!!

If you havent checked out Google earth yet have a look.

Google Earth is a program that maps the earth by the use of images obtained from satellite imagery all over the globe. It is available under three different licenses: Google Earth, a free version, Google Earth Plus, which includes a few more features; and Google Earth Professional, intended for commercial use.

This is a fantastic site which is being updated all the time. Zoom in on your neighborhood and see if you can find your house, Check out the pools and runs in a section of river you have never fished or plan your hunting trip.

Have a look at a city you've never been to. There are also all sorts of plugins etc becoming available for this site such as satelite tracking of yaught races, migrating birds etc.

Metvuw

This is probably the best free weather site out there. Available here http://www.metvuw.com/forecast/forecast3day.php?type=rainŽion=nz or click on the image below. On this site you will find thumbnails for the next few days, displaying rain and wind strengths etc giving you a great idea how the weather is going to affect your local area and whats coming over the next few days. No colour means no rain, pink means very light rain etc. Hey, we're.sure you'll figure it out! A really good site that really gives you the heads up on the weather!

 

Metservice Mountain Forecasts

Used in conjuction with Metvuw this site is great to confirm wind stregths and rain levels etc.

Latest Riverflows

This site is vital if you're planning a fishing trip as river conditions can make all the difference

between a great and an average fishing trip.

Below is a rough guide to fishable levels on some of the major rivers. A higher figure is likely to be discoloured and produce difficult fishing conditions.

These are a guide only and water clarity will vary a lot depending on rising or falling rivers and the time of year. For example, snow melt during October-November can keep rivers unfishable at well below these levels. Generally though, flows lower these figures should produce clear to only slightly discoloured water
